The Political Science minor at Austin Peay State University is an 18-credit program that introduces students to the study of political institutions, public policy, political behavior, political theory, and international affairs. The program develops transferable skills in critical thinking, analytical reasoning, research, written and oral communication, and evidence-based argumentation that are valued across a wide range of professions. The minor complements numerous majors and provides valuable preparation for careers in government, public service, law, public policy, campaigns and elections, nonprofit organizations, business, journalism, and international affairs. It also provides a strong foundation for graduate and professional study in political science, public administration, public policy, law, and related fields, while fostering informed and engaged citizenship in democratic societies.
